In mid-September, Budapest and the Hungarian wine regions take center stage in the international wine industry once again with the arrival of BOR 2025 Hungarian Wine Summit 2025, one of the largest and most significant wine events in Hungary.
The event takes place from 8 to 13 September, culminating in a two-day professional programme in Budapest on 10 and 11 September. BOR 2025 Hungarian Wine Summit is not only a celebration of Hungarian wine, but also an international platform where wineries can meet directly with nearly 150 professional guests from the most important target markets for Hungarian wines, including selected international importers, traders and professional journalists.
Based on last year’s experience and feedback from wineries, the organizers have come up with a completely new structure for this year: the Budapest program will consist of two complementary days. The first day will be devoted to master classes, where participants will gain a comprehensive overview of the diversity, wine regions, and styles of Hungarian wine. The second day is dedicated to practical activities – the Tasting Zone offers the opportunity to taste specific wines, while B2B meetings enable targeted business networking. This two-day, concentrated format is not only more efficient but also provides even more value for both wineries and international guests.
A day in the enchanting world of Hungarian wines – professional insights and informal experiences
Wednesday guarantees an immersion into the world of Hungarian wines through a master class. The program will be kicked off by Pál Rókusfalvy, followed by Péter Tűű’s presentation, which will focus on sparkling wines. After that, John Szabó and Róbert Gilvesy will introduce participants to the unique world of volcanic wines. In the afternoon session, Andrea Gere and György Lőrincz Jr. will present Hungary’s iconic red wines, followed by Péter Molnár and László Mészáros with a presentation on sweet Tokaj wines and the unique characteristics of Tokaj sweet wines.
To round off this eventful day, participants can enjoy an informal goulash party. Goulash, Hungary’s iconic national dish, provides the perfect conclusion to the wine programme, symbolising tradition, hospitality and community. This evening provides a great chance to socialise, chat informally, and share the day’s experiences over an authentic Hungarian meal.
Day Two – Budapest Deep Dive Day
On Thursday, September 11, the focus will be on deeper discoveries and building business relationships. The day offers guests a structured opportunity to meet wineries and taste wines. Participants will be divided into two groups, alternating hourly, to take part in the Tasting Zone and B2B meetings programs. The Tasting Zone is a guided, yet informal space where visitors can learn about Hungary’s wine regions and themes accompanied by local sommeliers, while the B2B section features 15-minute, pre-arranged meetings with winery representatives, allowing buyers to participate in up to 12 targeted meetings throughout the day. Foreign buyers will meet winery representatives at a designated location, where they can register for up to 24 meetings. A professional online platform designed specifically for the event will facilitate partnership establishment and meeting scheduling.
While the professional guests are in talks, representatives of the international media will enjoy a special gastronomic-themed walking tour of Budapest in the morning, showcasing the city’s history, flavors, and wine culture. In the afternoon, they will join the Tasting Zone program, where they can freely explore wines and wineries.
After the official program, the day will end with a special optional experience: an evening visit to the Budapest Wine Festival in the impressive Buda Castle. This iconic venue provides a fitting setting for an authentic wine festival, where participants can enjoy Hungarian wines in an informal setting, rounding off the day in style.
