Katona Winery Ltd. is a family enterprise founded in autumn 1996. They cultivate grapes over 43 hectares on the southern shore of Lake Balaton, in the wine region of Balatonbolgár. Besides the most significant international varieties (such as Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), the traditional Hungarian varieties can also be found in their selection. White wines are aged in stainless steel containers under reductive conditions to preserve their primary aromas as perfectly as possible. In contrast, red wines are aged for at least two years in oak barrels before being bottled and distributed.
