The history of Hungarian sparkling wine spans more than 150 years. Our overview presents not only the diversity of terroirs, but also highlights a few unique Hungarian specialties alongside the classic grape varieties and blends.

Péter Tüű became a Certified Sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers in 2012 and is a 2-time Hungarian Sommelier Champion. He received the Champagne Master-Level Certificate from the Wine Scholar Guild. He worked for over 3 years in Switzerland, among others in the 1-Michelin-starred Restaurant Adler in Hurden. Besides his main job as wine consultant and wine educator at Winehub Wine Center and as a sommelier for the Epicurean fine-dining restaurant, he compiles wine lists and provides training for other restaurants. He also teaches about wine, champagne and sparkling wine, as well as food and wine pairing at several wine-related educational institutes in Budapest, such as CEWI – the Central European Wine Institute – and consults for wineries in Hungary.
